STORY SCULPTURE
for this project I decided to do a dragon. this project was inspired by Harry Potter, I loved the dragon in the movie so i decided to make a Hungarian Horntail dragon. This project is the biggest project I have ever worked on in ceramics and I was dedicated to finish it. The part that took me the most to make was the main body of the dragon. I had to throw it on the wheel and make it an appropriate size to match the head. The head itself was not too hard to make, but the teeth afterward were really fragile. I also learned to put the horns on after i had finished the project because they would break off and it would irritate me.
This was the sketch that came to mind. I had a friend help me sketch it so that i had something to go off of. The dragon would have bat like wings which would also serve as the arms.

this is the process of the head in the making. The head did not take too long to make, however the upper part of the head was the part that took the longest because i needed a good size to go off of. I later decided to give it a beak to make it look more like a bird.

The second part that i worked on was the neck which didn't take too long to make since i threw it on the wheel to help save me the trouble of it weighing a lot.

This is the dragon after i put the body and legs together. At this point i was really proud of myself for getting this far into the project.
